What is Semaglutide?

Semaglutide is a medication originally developed to treat type 2 diabetes. It has been studied for its potential to aid in weight loss. Semaglutide is a Glucagon-like Peptide (GLP-1) Agonist. It is a weekly injection used for weight loss.

  • Delays stomach emptying. This leads to a feeling of fullness and satisfaction with smaller meal sizes.

  • Slows intestinal motility.

  • Lowers blood sugars, in part by reducing sugar production in the liver.

  • Stimulates insulin secretion by the pancreas.

  • Works by mimicking a hormone that targets areas of the brain involved in regulating appetite and food intake.

Semaglutide is the key ingredient in weight loss medications like Ozempic® and Wegovy®. Since Ozempic® and Wegovy® were initially developed for diabetes, they come in pre-dosed syringes, making them less adaptable to individual needs. Opting for semaglutide enables us to craft a personalized plan tailored to each patient's specific requirements.

The Appointment

No appointment preparation is necessary. You will meet with a nurse once a week to receive your dose of semaglutide and b12 shot. The b12 shot helps your metabolism and energy production. Each dosing of semaglutide is specific to your individual needs. Our nurses will work with you to create a custom treatment plan that slowly titrates up to your ideal dose. A perfect dose results in a lowered or controlled appetite with little to no side effects. Success on this weight loss journey must include dietary and lifestyle changes. We will work with you to make sure you have made the necessary lifestyle changes to see the most successful results.

The Results

Results may vary by participant, below are some of the potential benefits you may experience throughout the program.

You may expect to see medically significant weight loss (usually considered about 10 percent of initial weight, or as an example, losing 20 pounds from a starting weight of 200 pounds.)

Losing this amount of weight can:

  • Lower blood pressure, reducing the risk of hypertension-related complications.

  • Lower cholesterol, reducing the risk of heart and vascular disease.

  • Lower blood sugar, reducing the risks of diabetes.

Semaglutide can be a helpful ally in your weight loss journey, but it's important to use it wisely while being aware of its limitations. Remember, obesity is a chronic condition, and weight regain is common over time. To maintain a reduced body weight, it's crucial to incorporate regular physical activity, stick to a balanced, reduced-calorie diet, and have a plan for dealing with potential weight regain. Embrace smart eating, but don't forget to nourish yourself. Starving is not a sustainable solution for long-term success. Let's focus on a balanced and friendly approach to achieve your goals!

The Treatment

Ready to look your best?

I have struggled with my weight for most of my adult life. This program worked well for me. I was a bit nauseous the very first day of the first few injections, but that quickly subsided and I've had little or no ill side effects since then. The semaglutide drastically curbed my appetite so I was able to eat small meals with very few cravings for snacks, which had been my downfall in the past. I made a point of not denying myself any 'fun foods", but I found that I just wanted less. Fewer calories made for easy weight loss and as the pounds came off, I was more motivated to maintain the momentum. I feel so much better in my body.
