Fillers

Dermal fillers can be categorized into two basic types: Hyaluronic Acid (HA) fillers, which provide immediate volume to the skin, and Biostimulatory fillers, which work with the body to stimulate collagen production. These fillers are used to plump thin lips, enhance facial symmetry, soften wrinkles and creases, and boost shallow contours. At Tighten It Spa, we offer a complete line of the latest and best fillers to choose from, including those from Juvederm®, Restylane® and RHA®. We now also carry SkinVive™ by Juvederm®, a microdroplet injectable to improve skin smoothness of the cheeks.

Appointment Preparation

  • Schedule your filler appointment at least 2-3 weeks before a special event that you may be attending, such as a wedding or a vacation. Bruising and swelling may be apparent during that period.

  • Avoid alcoholic beverages for 24 hours as they can thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising.

  • Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood-thinning medications, if possible for 2 weeks before treatment. Medications and supplements such as aspirin, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil supplements, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve, and other NSAIDS have a blood-thinning effect and can increase the risk of bruising and swelling after injections.

  • Reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours in advance if you have a rash, cold sore, or blemish in the area.

  • Do not use dermal fillers if you have a skin infection at the planned injection site.

  • You are not a candidate if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

  • Please let us know if you have a history of fever blisters. We can provide you with a prescription for prophylactic antiviral therapy to start on the day of the treatment to prevent a flare-up of cold sores.

The Results

There can be swelling or bruising in the treated areas. Although most patients heal much more quickly, we recommend you schedule your treatment two to three weeks before an important event. The longevity of fillers depends on many factors: age, injection site (lips last less time than cheeks), baseline volume of collagen, skin elasticity, and the amount injected.
